4-Year-Old Camp

Encouraging curiosity. Building friendships.

Four-year-old campers nurture their natural curiosities as they observe, explore, and play each day at camp. Campers are encouraged to cultivate foundational science skills through child-led outdoor play, hands-on sensory activities, animal encounters, art, and outdoor adventures. Our trained counselors help these young campers explore and develop new friendships while building social and science skills. The indoor exhibits and outdoor wetland, woodland, and prairie habitats in the Nature Museum's backyard serve as the campers' classrooms of curiosity!

Camp sessions are held Monday through Friday, 9am to 1pm. Aftercare is available exclusively for 4-year-old campers from 1-3pm at an additional $130.

Please note: Session 2 (July 15-July 26) is now full. If you wish to be put on the Wait List, please continue to the registration form and follow the prompts.

Due to the holiday, there is no camp on Thursday, July 4.

5 & 6-Year-Old Camp

Making discoveries. Playing together.

Five and six-year-old campers enhance their natural ability to explore, investigate, and question the world around them during this unique summer camp experience. Campers conduct investigations to find out more about animal homes, behaviors, bodies, and adaptations. As campers explore our outdoor wetland, woodland, and prairie habitats, they act as detectives to solve their own nature questions, decipher how different plants and animals survive, and discover the many interactions that occur in nature. Our trained counselors are excited to play, get dirty, and help guide campers to make discoveries as they explore the world around them.

Camp sessions are held Monday through Friday, 9am to 3pm.

Please note: Session 2 (July 15-July 26) is now full. If you wish to be put on the Wait List, please continue to the registration form and follow the prompts.

7 & 8-Year-Old Camp

Exploring wildlife. Making connections.

Seven and eight-year-old campers develop their science skills by investigating and exploring the Nature Museum and the outdoors. Each camp session focuses on observing interactions in the prairie, wetland, or woodland ecosystems teeming with life right in the Museum's “backyard.” Campers record field notes and illustrations as they take a deep-dive in a study of their favorite insects, plants, and animals. Each session will also take a session specific field trip off-site. In addition, campers will take walking field trips to the lakefront and other neighboring green spaces.

Camp sessions are held Monday through Friday, 9am to 3pm.

9, 10, & 11-Year-Old Camp

Problem solving. Working together.

Nine through eleven-year-old campers sharpen their problem-solving and STEM skills as they learn about, construct and design solutions to real-world problems. Each session takes off-site field trips to see conservation and sustainability practices in action, including walking field trips to Green City Market and the lakefront as well as an additional session-specific field trip. Conservation and sustainability concepts are at the core of their everyday activities, and students get the opportunity to collect evidence and share their ideas around local topics. Experiences may include sustainability-themed activities, engineering challenges, wildlife monitoring, hands-on experiments, and restoration projects.

Camp sessions are held Monday through Friday, 9am to 3pm.
